Fairhaven, which can take up to 25 boys at a time, is on the Greenwich side of Blackheath, close to the park and well-placed for work in the southeast area of London. Fairlop House, catering for up to 19 girls, is in a pleasant part of Levtonstone and also in a good area for work. The hostels were opened by the N.A.M.H. at the request of a special committee convened by the Trustees of the London Parochial Charities to consider the aftercare of the educationally sub-normal.
